We can help selecting the perfect diamond engagement ring

1. Selecting a Diamond

How do you choose the diamond she’s been dreaming of? The one that will take her breath away? The one that will be a perfect fit for her hand, taste, and style? You want the most beautiful diamond possible. But what makes a diamond beautiful? In one word, brilliance. Brilliant diamonds explode with light, unintentional catching people’s eye, sparkling in candlelight, adding elegance and glamour to a woman’s whole being. A diamond’s brilliance is what brings out the “oohs and aahs.”

First we refer to the four C’s

Now let’s take a look at the different shapes a diamond can have:

Diamonds come in many shapes, sizes and colors. The diamond you choose is largely a matter of personal taste. While a round diamond may appeal to a more traditional woman, a heart shape has greater appeal to the hopelessly romantic. But there are other considerations to take into account before making your final selection.

How will the shape of the diamond look on her hand?

A woman with a small hand may prefer a round or princess shape diamond. A woman with long, slender fingers can wear a marquise, pear or oval shape diamond without having it cover too much of her finger to look elegant.

The setting for a diamond also plays a role in how the diamond looks on a woman’s hand. A heavier setting would not appear graceful on a smaller hand.

How important is size?

Diamonds are measured in carat weight, but shape contributes to the appearance of size. A one-carat emerald shape diamond with a larger surface area, but less depth, may appear larger than a two-carat round diamond with a smaller table, but greater depth in the bottom portion of the stone.

2. Selecting the setting

Choosing a setting can be just as important as choosing your diamond. The ‘framing’ should compliment the diamond you choose.

While the diamond is the most expensive component of any diamond ring or other piece of diamond jewelry, it is the mounting that often is the biggest challenge. Every person who is going to wear an item of jewelry has a different perspective on what is beautiful with respect to the mounting.

An engagement ring must not only fit the finger, it must fit the woman. It should be a reflection of who she is as well the personification of her feelings toward the commitment she is about to make. Because the diamond is the symbol of everlasting love, it is, of course, the most important decision to make. But then there’s the matter of the setting. And while some settings may be more appropriate than others for specific diamond shapes, ultimately the decision comes down to personal taste.

Word of Advice

Rather than making an expensive mistake getting a unique ‘framing’ for your diamond that she might not like, it is better to set the diamond in a simple white gold style mounting.
